Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion announces events for Bronx Week yesterday at the Paradise Theater as Darryl Strawberry, left, looks on.

Clear the calendar and get ready for the Bronx's own Mardi Gras.

The 10th annual Bronx Week begins Saturday with a week of historic tours, athletic competitions and dozens of other events that show off the borough's unique flair.

"Every year, the Bronx community pauses for a week and celebrates the best, the brightest, the most beautiful things about the Bronx," said Borough President Adolfo Carrión Jr. "We celebrate its people, its institutions, its great, rich history."

The theme for this year's event is "Come Celebrate Our Home," and attendees will get a chance to learn ways to keep fit, see several concerts and even pretty themselves up for free - Montefiore Medical Center and Health Plus are picking up the tab.

One of the more popular events from previous years, the DiVA Spa, will be held Monday in the Rotunda at the Bronx County Courthouse. Thousands of women attended last year to get free facials, manicures and massages while learning how to deal with and prevent domestic violence.

There's a big-band brunch for seniors and tennis for kids, but the big event will be the black-tie Bronx Ball held June 23 at the Paradise Theater.

In attendance will be the four new inductees into the Bronx Walk of Fame: Dion DiMucci of Dion and the Belmonts; actress Doris Roberts from "Everybody Loves Raymond"; Budd Friedman, founder of the Improv Comedy Club, and bachata singing group Aventura.

The late singing legend Luther Vandross will also be honored.

In addition to the new people who will have their names immortalized on street signs in the borough, several former inductees will don tuxedos and gowns for the event.

Walk of Famer Cathy Moriarty-Gentile, who starred alongside Robert De Niro in "Raging Bull," recently bought the Paradise Theater with her husband, Joseph Gentile.

She will be at the ball along with other famous Bronxites, like Danny Aiello, Tito Rojas and DJ Red Alert.

But even unfamous residents who can't get a ticket to the ball can still get close to the celebs the following day at 11 a.m. at the Walk of Fame Induction Ceremony on the Grand Concourse, followed by the Bronx Week Parade and Festival, where thousands will march up Mosholu Parkway.
