 Mamiya Introduces 22MP Digital Back, Lenses The new 22-megapixel ZD back, 28mm prime, and 75-150mm zoom expand the company's medium-format digital lines.

Mamiya has introduced a new 22-megapixel digital back and two medium-format lenses that are optimized for digital capture. The Mamiya Sekor AF 75-150mm f/4.5 D zoom lens offers a 50- to 26-degree angle of view when used with the digital back, equivalent to a 47-93mm lens on a 35mm camera. The Mamiya Sekor AF 28mm f/4.5 D lens provides a 94-degree view with a digital back, equivalent to a 20mm lens on a 35mm camera.



 

Both new lenses are compatible with Mamiya's 645AFD, 645AFDII  (Related)  , and ZD cameras. The zoom offers a minimum focus distance of 3.3 feet, while the prime gets as close as 1.15 feet. According to Mamiya, the 28mm lens is highly corrected for distortion, despite its wide angle.



 
The new 22-megapixel ZD back is compatible with Mamiya's 645AFD II, 645AFD, and RZ67 Pro IID medium-format bodies. It incorporates a 48mmx36mm CCD with a 4:3 aspect ratio, and provides a native light sensitivity range of ISO 50 to 400. The back features dual CompactFlash and SD slots, a 1.8-inch LCD, and an infrared cut filter that can be replaced with an optional low-pass filter to reduce moir and aliasing when photographing subjects that are prone to producing those flaws.



 

Among the ZD back's other notable features are raw, JPEG, and raw+JPEG shooting modes, 1.2 fps capture, and ISO adjustments in 1/3 steps. Color options include a choice of sRGB or Adobe RGB, manual and Kelvin white balance, and fine adjustments to white balance presets. The ZD back comes with both Adobe Photoshop Lightroom software -- which supports Mamiya's raw image format -- and DigitalStudio for remote camera control on a FireWire-connected laptop.




 
The 22-megapixel ZD back will be available in Summer 2007 for $6999 separately or as part of the new $9999 ZD 645AFD II Digital System. The 28mm lens will be available in July 2007 for $5294, and the 75-150mm zoom will ship in June 2007 for $3329.
