 Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, Inc. Names Mark Swearingin Vice President, Technical Operations

 Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, Inc. (AAWW) (Nasdaq: AAWW), a
leading provider of global air cargo services, has named Mark S.
Swearingin as Vice President, Technical Operations, effective July 23.





  Mr. Swearingin, 46, joins AAWW as a senior executive with
extensive experience in aircraft maintenance and engineering,
including prior oversight responsibilities in maintenance, production
control, line maintenance, and training and planning. Mr. Swearingin
also has substantial experience in managing multi-million-dollar
budgets with a positive earnings impact, which will complement AAWW's
strong focus on continuous improvement and earnings enhancement.





  Mr. Swearingin succeeds Bill Kelley, who has served as the interim
head of Technical Operations and who has been promoted to Vice
President, Safety and Regulatory Compliance.





  "Mark offers solid business intellect and a broad range of
experience in aircraft maintenance and engineering," said John W.
Dietrich, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of
AAWW. "As someone who started his career as a mechanic and worked his
way up to senior management, Mark has established himself as an
analytical, results-oriented leader with a proven record of success.
We look forward to capitalizing on his strategic vision and leadership
as we continue on our quest for continuous improvement and improved
profitability."





  Prior to joining AAWW, Mr. Swearingin served as Vice President,
Technical Operations for SH&E Air Transport Consultancy, the world's
largest air transport consulting firm, where he was responsible for
growing the airline managed services practice. From 2005 to 2006, he
served as Executive Vice President, Air Canada Technical Services, and
from 2003 to 2005 he was Vice President Maintenance and Engineering at
Midwest Airlines. Earlier in his career, Mr. Swearingin held positions
as Managing Director, Maintenance Control and Maintenance Planning for
US Airways, Division Manager for United Parcel Service Airlines, and
Mechanic with Northwest Orient Airlines.





  Mr. Dietrich added: "As we welcome Mark, we also congratulate Bill
on his promotion and thank him for his extraordinary service and
loyalty to the Company and to our customers this past year. He has
done an outstanding job in overseeing our operational reliability and
ensuring our regulatory compliance during this period, while keeping
Technical Operations focused on our Continuous Improvement initiatives
as well."





  Reporting to Mr. Dietrich, Mr. Swearingin will be responsible for
all aspects of the Company's global maintenance and engineering
activities and strategy, including the most efficient means of
maintaining AAWW's aircraft fleet and the most effective ways to
improve maintenance costs.





  Mr. Swearingin is a graduate of Purdue University with a Bachelor
of Science degree in aviation technology. In addition, he holds
airframe and powerplant licenses and a private pilot rating from the
Federal Aviation Administration.
